What is Hexbound?

Hexbound drops you into a high-tech arena packed with aggressive mechanical monsters, locked paths, and shifting power zones. While your first instinct might be to just hold down the trigger and run, the game’s unique hexagonal layout forces you to actually think about where you're stepping.

Dodging incoming enemy fire while calculating your next grid position gives combat a rhythm that feels fresh, challenging, and surprisingly strategic.

Basic Gameplay & Combat Flow

Every mission puts you inside a sprawling, maze-like arena. In the beginning, taking down small mechanical spawns with standard firearms is straightforward enough. But as you push deeper into the campaign, the game scales up the pressure quickly.

Larger, armored threats require you to constantly cycle through your inventory. You might soften up a cluster of enemies with a spell, finish off the larger units with explosive weaponry, and clear out the stragglers with a quick melee attack. Ammo management and knowing when to swap weapons are just as vital as having good aim.

Between missions, the perk system allows you to refine your build. Rather than spreading points thin, leaning into the weapons and spells you naturally use the most pays off big when you finally stand face-to-face with the game’s giant end-of-world bosses.

Survival Tips: How to Stay Alive Longer

Clear the Map Before Leaving: Resist the urge to dive into the exit portal the moment it unlocks. Checking corners and finding secret rooms often yields gold, extra ammo, or powerful gear upgrades you'll desperately need later.

Never Stop Moving: The enemy AI is aggressive and projectile-heavy. Continuous strafing, jumping, and sprinting are your best defenses against getting cornered.

Save High-Damage Spells for Groups & Bosses: Magic packs a heavy punch, but it isn't meant for single, low-tier mobs. Save your big spells to break out of tight spots or melt boss health bars.

Specialize Your Build: Perk points are best used to double down on your primary playstyle. If you love shotguns and fire spells, invest heavily into those trees to maximize your damage output.
